End week 12

I want to look special on my wedding day. I am a mature age bride getting married for the first time to my soul mate, Alister, a wonderful tall red-hair Scottish guy. I have waited a long time for this moment and want it to be special and a time to remember and reflect.

I don’t like my body image at the moment and have been trying to lose weight unsuccessfully - probably because of the endless cycle of diets all my life. We get married on 6th August 2005 and we are also going to Scotland for our honeymoon and another reception with Alisters relatives. So getting expert fitness training and weight loss advice should at least shed a good amount of kilos to make me feel comfortable, fit and confident with myself.

Progress Report - Sunday 23rd Jan - End week 2
Over the last two weeks I have lost just over 3 kgs. I think I have done pretty well. There were 2 meals that probably were not on the diet plan! I have been struggling a bit with the exercises prescribed ...but practice will get me there. I exercise on the Sportop,.sort of a bike that stretches your legs, stomach and arms. I have some ball exercises to do, in which the ball runs away from me more often than what I would like!! I am also getting through the other exercises that Dean has prescribed but haven't perfected those yet!! I do go for a 40 min walk each night and have only missed 2. I am feeling much healthier ...and feel I have a bit more energy.

The diet is also going well, although I probably tend to eat less than what I am allowed to which I need to stick to more as it would probably stop the hunger pangs towards the end of the day!

My partner is also feeling a lot healthier but he does tend to sneak in a snack here and there. Caught him ordering a pizza when he thought I would be out of the house!!!

Progress Report - Sunday 6th Feb - End week 4

Well another 2 weeks has past .... and so quickly!!! I have lost another 3kgs ... so that makes it 6 kgs in total! (only another 14 to go!!!). From when I first measured myself (thigh, arm, waist, bum, bust) I have lost 7 cm in total. More off my bum than anywhere else, so walking does help!!! Dieting has been pretty much on track ...but I find it harder when eating out. I try to stick to what I think is low fat - ignoring breads, potato etc. ...but sometimes they dress it up with sauces or dressings ...I have to learn to ask more about how the meals are prepared!!

Exercise has been difficult for me in the last few weeks, I have kept up the walking every night except for the last Tuesday & Wendesday last week. Tuesday was 36 degrees, way too hot, and Wednesday was the complete opposite with a top of 13 degrees and pouring rain ...that's Melbourne for you! But I should be back on the path now. I haven't been that vigilant with the other exercises because of family issues ...but Dean has kept me on track saying just stick with the Diet and walking and catch up on the other exercises later.

I feel as if I have more energy and the walks are getting easier. I bought myself a pedometer, just to see how many steps. It is only about 3600 steps in my walk but I measure all day and it came to about 7000 steps. Dean advised to try and get over the 8000 steps a day. I also bought some hand weights (1kg each) to take with me when walking (bargain at under $10). I only have to figure out how to hold the dog leash and move the weights up and down at the same time when I walk!!

Progress Report - Sunday 20th Feb - End week 6

Here I am again! .... well not so good this fortnight ... I have lost only 1 kg. I had a disastrous weekend with a group of friends, we went away for the weekend, I was good with the food, but I did drink alcohol. This was my downfall plus little exercise. It took me all week to take off the weight I had put on so I am off drinking until the wedding, which will probably set me off with only 2 glasses!!!

But I have lost 12.5 cm off various parts of my body and in total 19.5 cm. The most being waist and bum/stomach. So that made me feel better. I think the exercises are working, I am probably putting on muscle but losing the centimetres. I am still not that strong in the upper body but am working on that. Dean's exercises are starting to show some results.

I have kept up with the walking but have still to master the 8000 steps per day!! I walk with the hand weights and my arms feel like dropping off at the end of the walk! I am also doing squats with the ball, abs with the ball, sportop bike, and pushups.

I have also been having either the Ultraslim shake for breakfast or lunch and the Ultraslim pasta for lunch. Usually it is one replacement meal per day. I am feeling more energised. And since the Take5 article I am getting a lot more support from family and friends.

Progress Report - Sunday 6th Mar - End week 8

How quickly the fortnights go!!! I have lost 2 kgs this time. So it is a total of 9 kg now. Coming off slowly, but at least its going in the right direction. I have only lost another 2 cm so that is 21.5 cm in total. I started a new job so instead of taking the lift I have been taking the stairs to go between floors. It is getting easier coming up those stairs not panting as much! I have had a disruptive week, some good, some bad, so it has interrupted my routine for walking. But I did take my walking shoes to work and managed 2 lunchtime walks.

I will be more settled next week (I hope) and get down to some steady exercise. I have faced 6 morning teas at work in the past two weeks and I have been good every time, but it is hard especially the savoury treats. I have had a few occasions with social drinks etc and have stuck to mineral water -just thinking of the goal ahead!

I will wear my pedometer next week to check on kms I walk at work as I need to get those steps up to 8000 (I still haven't reached this goal!).

I might not get to my goal of 20kg by the next four weeks, but hopefully I will have lost at least 14 kgs (which when you convert to pounds looks a lot better ....30.8 lbs .... for those people over 40 who didn't grow up with metric!!!) I should definitely lose 20kgs by August ..... I just need to find a "Dean" replacement to keep me on track, maybe my friends will get behind me to keep me motivated ...?

Progress Report - Sunday 20th Mar - End week 10

Another 2 weeks have gone by ..... and so many life turning events! I have lost only 0.5kgs this time. So it is a total of 9.5kg now. I have had a lot to distract me - my mother died of cancer, only being diagnosed in mid January this year. So after a lot of preparations, contacting family from Qld and Vic, having a house full of people and the funeral last Friday ...everything else has come second place. So as you can try to imagine it has been difficult, not only the last 2 weeks ...but ever since I started.

But this week .... I will endeavour to get back to more regular exercise, eating healthy .... and looking forward to better times ahead. Catch up in the next 2 weeks ..... the competition and support might be coming to an end ...but it is still a long way till August.

Progress Report - Sunday 28th Mar - End week 12

Hi everyone, well it has been a quick 12 weeks. I have lost 2.5 kgs over the last fortnight, so my grand total over the 12 weeks is 11.5Kgs lost ! Not quite my goal, but not bad with a lot of upheavals in my life during that time. I have lost 15.5 cm in the last month which is now a total of 37cm. Most coming off on my waist and bust this time!

I feel I have a lot more energy I go up and down the stairs at work and avoid the lift when I can. I also try to fit in a walk at lunchtime and a walk after dinner ... but the exercises need to pick up. I am more conscious of what I eat when going out ... but you still get to taste nice food - my favourite is spicy curry with jasmine rice, or a nice salad with cajun chicken. Sometimes if I feel I am missing out I have a small taste which satisfies my craving.

One of our favourite weekend lunches is pizza ..... pita bread, tomato paste, a bit of ham, tomato, capsicum, chilli, low fat cheese, mushrooms ... in the oven ... taste great!!

Dean has been very understanding and motivating throughout the whole 12 weeks, and especially in the last month... so thankyou very much Dean. I have needed your support.

Well it is only 18 weeks till my wedding ... so hopefully I will get rid of the 8.5kgs to go (and maybe more!)

Thankyou again to True Bride and Dean (Getfit) for all the support and encouragement. Thankyou to UltraSlim for the goodies (which I am still getting through) ..... and also the added incentive with Take5 magazine.

I hope you have enjoyed our journey ... and it has given you the incentive and motivation to look your best for your special wedding day.
