How much, how old & when to marry

True Bride has been collecting information from members for many years. We have put together some interesting data on how much people are spending on their wedding, how old they are when they marry and what is their preferred time of year for a wedding.

How much are couples spending on their wedding?

Our records indicate that the average spend on an Australian wedding is now (2008) around, $28,835. This is up from around 5 years ago, when it was $25,601. Even more interesting is the range of expenditure and what percentage of couples appear in each range. Which one will you be in?

How old are couples when they marry?

Just a little clarification first. The data we have collected is almost entirely from brides, so the question should really be, how old, or what age group are brides (our members) when they marry. This analysis is based on the information provided to us by around 5,000 brides married in the last few years.

What time of year to couples prefer to marry?

Selecting when to get married is not always a simple process. Many factors need to be considered. The weather for starters, not that you can always guarantee the outcome, but do you want a wedding held in the warmer months or would you prefer something a little cooler? Many have to juggle work commitments, so don't always have the luxury of choice. Others work their wedding date around their honeymoon, for example, if they wish to honeymoon through a European summer, they might consider a wedding during the winter months. Another factor might be cost. Holding a wedding during the less popular months, you may be able to negotiate better deals with your wedding suppliers. Again, this analysis is based on the information provided to us by around 5,000 couples married in the last few years.
