Demi & Jacob Love Story

These young love birds met in school. It was 2003, first year of high school and Jacob was making jokes with his friends when Demi asked him what his name was. “Jesus” he told her. All Jacob’s friends played along and for months later, Demi thought that was really Jacob’s name. To this day he is still in her phone contacts as “Jesus”.

Jacob and Demi both lived in Goonellabah, just around the corner from each other, and every day they would walk home together. Jacob would show off at how fast he could walk the massive hill and Demi would try her best to keep up. They were part of different groups at school and had no classes together, but both of them looked forward to their walk home together.

For Demi, it was just a “mates” thing, but Jacob always had a soft spot for this girl. Demi would talk about other boys she thought were cute, and she couldn’t wait to bring her bridesmaid Teagan around to meet Jacob when she came up from Melbourne, so that he could see how pretty she was. Looking back now, Demi is glad that nothing ever happened between them!

Jacob and Demi walked home together in years 7, 8 and 9, until Demi and her family moved to Evans Head, a small town 45 minutes away. After this there wasn’t much contact for a few years, until Jacob started working for Demi’s parents in 2007. Demi would often pop in and say hello and do the odd jobs to help out, like putting up the Christmas decorations. Now that she was older, with blonde hair and waxed eyebrows, Jacob’s soft spot for Demi was now even softer :)

The two started hanging out more often and going to parties together, and all of their friends wanted something to happen between them. Jacob was secretly keen but Demi was a bit hesitant. Demi told her friends she didn’t want to risk their friendship if a relationship didn’t work out.

Sadly in 2007, one of Demi's best friends passed away. Max. It was a tragedy that she just didn't know how to deal with. But every single day, Jacob was there. He was there for Demi before he started work, after he finished work, and would come and visit on his lunch break too. He was her support, her rock, and whenever he was around, he made Demi feel like everything was going to be okay. If there was any positive to have come from such a sad experience, it was that Demi realised how much Jacob loved her, and how much she loved him too. She realised that life is too short, and she finally let the romance happen.

6 Years later, on 7th September 2013, the happy couple were married in Lismore in front of 84 of their closest friends and family - with their lost loved ones, including Max, there in spirit!
The day was simply perfect. In every single way, it was just perfect :)
