The Romance
Andrew and i met through mutual friends in Townsville, Andrew was so shy at first but after a few dates we were inseparable and moved in together shortly after. After 4 years, travelling overseas and buying our first home together. Andrew finally thought he should put a ring on it. :)
The Proposal
September 13th 2016, Andrew suggested we take our dog down the beach for a run which is something we do regularly so it was not out of the norm.
While we were walking I noticed Andrew had slowed down and he was behind me. When I turned around he was on one knee with a ring and he asked me to marry him. Of course I said "Yes"! It was a complete surprise and so amazing he included our dog in the event!
The Planning
We planned our wedding day for around 11 months after Andrew proposed. I absolutely love all things weddings and events so i had a lot of fun planning the day! i already had an idea of most Vendors i wanted and the date that worked actually ended up being my in laws wedding anniversary of 28 years so it was super special to be able plan our day to share with them! As much as i loved planning by the end i was well and truly ready for the day to finally arrive!
The Wedding Day
Our wedding was absolutely perfect, i could not have asked or expected it to go any smoother. we were incredibly lucky to have amazing weather and amazing vendors! We both got ready at an apartment in the city so our photographer and videographer could capture both of us and our bridal party getting ready. My Makeup artist Kristin Martin and hairdresser Tamara Staehr were amazing and kept everyone on time and made sure everyone looked amazing!
There wasn't really any nerves, just more hoping everything went to plan and came together how we imagined it would. We decided to not see each other on the day until I walked down the aisle, which was lovely. I have had nothing but great feedback so I'm glad everyone who attended had a great day! It is such an incredible feeling to have everyone you love take time out of their lives to come together and celebrate your day.
The Ceremony
We had the most perfect weather. we really could not have been blessed with a more beautiful day. We had a garden ceremony at Queens Gardens located in Townsville. We had a beautiful wooden arch with a gorgeous floral arrangement done by our decorator. It was simple but so pretty and exactly what we wanted.
The Reception
Our reception was held at Allure Events in Townsville. It was amazing, the events coordinator was lovely and ensured everything was set up before we arrived. She made it super easy for all our vendors to come in and do what they needed to do. Sarah from Dreamscene events was phenomenal and absolutely transformed the space into a fairy tale setting it was better than i could have hoped for. Our Cake made by local baker Kierstan Behan and was just amazing! We had a wonderful reception!
I wouldn't change anything. Our vendors were amazing. I had amazing people by my side. I got to marry the love of my life in front of all of those people who mean the most to us. That's what makes any day amazing!
The Honeymoon
We went to Fiji for 7 days on the Tuesday after our wedding. We stayed at Tokariki island resort, Which is an adults only resort.
It was absolutely paradise. We spent our days snorkeling, drinking cocktails, swimming in our private plunge pool. eating the most amazing food getting massages and just getting to spend quality and relaxing time together.
Wedding Advice ...
Don't dwell on things to long. If something doesn't go exactly the way it was meant to just remember the purpose of the day. Try not to stress too much and just embrace what will be will be.
I also think a videographer is 100% worth the investment. Nick from Hello Blue was amazing. we barely knew he was there and our video is incredible and really captures the emotions and love of the day. Get a photo booth. We had In the Bbooth at our wedding. The photo booth photos are priceless you dont get those hilarious photos where even you grandparents are having a great time with all the props from a photographer.
They send you a usb with all your photos on a video and also individual photos that everyone took on the night a few days after the wedding.
It was so exciting to receive and helps you relive all the fun of the night.
