BRIDE OF THE YEAR 2017

Bride of the Year 2017 - Winner

There were twenty two gorgeous finalists in the 2017 Bride of the Year Competition, True Bride's seventeenth annual competition. Each of the twenty two entrants had become finalists from hundreds of contestants throughout the year, each deserving a chance to win. But there can only be one winner and in the end Emma Munns received the highest amount of votes, and was crowned 'Bride of the Year' 2017. Congratulations Emma!

Emma's Competition Experience

I came across the competition on Facebook from someone else I knew who had entered. After so many people telling me how great my photos were and that I should enter, I did. I liked the idea that it was by votes and for the everyday bride.

Our wedding day was so special, the planning the lead up, so much of ‘us’ went into it and then the day arrives and it’s over so quickly, so it’s nice to having something that helps it last just that little bit longer, let’s the memory live on.

When I entered and told my friends and family, they all asked me lots of questions, about True Bride, the website, what the prize was, who else entered, how do you win? It was such an amazing feeling knowing how many people were happy to support me to help me win by sharing with family and friends. I love my Photos so I am always happy to show them off.

Once I became a Finalist, everyone was very excited for me and jumped on board to vote for me in the finals to help me win. To gather votes, I shared my post on Facebook a few times, I had massive support from friends and family also sharing the post for me, I have a great relationship with a few Community groups around Townsville who I have known for quite a few years who also were more than happy to vote for me and were just as excited to help me win.

When I received the call to tell me I had won, I was on holidays in NSW and on my way to pick up my Sister in law’s (Kate) wedding dress who was getting married that weekend. She was standing right next to me and so we were both very excited when we found out and got some pretty strange looks in the shop we were in. It was a very exciting weekend as we were celebrating her wedding that weekend as well. It definitely took a couple of days to sink in that I had actually won, It was a bit surreal. When Andrew found out, he was just as shocked as I was, but then he was really excited for me.

Coincidentally, the next day, as we were all together for another wedding, everyone sort of asked me how I went in the competition. So they were all very excited when I could tell them I won that same weekend.

The prize money will come in handy. There is a local family up here who have a go fund me page set up that I would love to donate some to, to try and help with some unexpected medical bills. We have also been planning a holiday to Europe for the end of the year that we will be able to put some towards also.

Our wedding was the best day, exactly what we wanted. It was a beautiful day to share with all the people who mean the most to us. It was great to be able to keep sharing the pictures with everyone and have the opportunity for the memory to live on.

I originally heard about True Bride via a friend and on Facebook. I think the competition is a fun way for Australian brides to share their photos and wedding story, reliving that one special day that seems to end so fast. I found the competition to be all inclusive, you don't have to be a model to enter, just an every day Aussie bride, that had her wedding in her own special way, whether it be formal or casual, glamorous or earthy, it doesn't really matter. What matters, is that all the entrants are real brides, sharing their wedding experience with others, enjoying their moment to shine all over again. I have loved every part of the competition and am so happy to be crowned the 2017 Bride of the Year.
