The Romance
I met Patrick at the end of Year 12. We went to different schools, but met through friends. I knew he was special from the start, he was just so easy to talk to and we had so many interests alike. We started dating then and were inseperable.
The Proposal
He surprised me for our 5 year anniversary and took me to dinner, followed by a drive to the top of Kings Park with a bottle of champagne to celebrate 5 great years together. Then he surprised me with getting down on one knee and asking if I would marry him. I cried with happiness!
The Planning
We had 15 months to save and plan for our wedding. It was the most exciting time of my life. I didn't find things very stressful at all, being organised is the key to a smooth planning process. We wanted to try and keep the wedding as small as we could, so trying to decide how to do this was our biggest challenge.
The Night BeforeWe stayed in separate villas the night before the wedding. I stayed with my bridesmaids and Patrick with his groomsmen. We found this worked well for us so that I could relax with the girls and the boys could unwind and watch the football. We decided we wanted to save the special moment for the wedding ceremony, so we didn't see each other or have any contact until the ceremony.
The Ceremony
We had a relaxed garden ceremony, which was the best moment of my life, although I remember being very nervous about walking down the aisle and everyone looking at me. But once I was there, I didn't take my eyes off my handsome husband. All I wanted was to run down and hug him. Lucky I had my Dad to remind me to slow down.
The Reception
Our reception was at the same place as our ceremony, overlooking the Swan river. We kept things simple and relaxed with some fun games and dancing.
The HoneymoonWe went to Phuket for our honeymoon. This was amazing, to relax as husband and wife and just enjoy each other.
