At 18, we met through mutual friends when I worked at McDonalds. Around seven
months later and after bumping into each other a number of times,
we decided to go on our first date to the Gold Coast (to the beach).
We have been together ever since. There was an instant connection
and we ended up spending all weekend together and I even meet Ty's
parents that same weekend. Around one month later we all spent christmas
at my parents home.
On our 4th year anniversary Ty proposed on bended knee in the lounge
room of the first home we purchased together, it was very memorable
as Ty is usually so good with words but he was so nervous that could
barely get all of the words out that he wanted to say.
We decided to have our wedding around two years later, so this
gave us plenty of time to arrange everything.
As we are both from Brisbane we decided to have a Brisbane wedding
in Woolloongabba (a southern inner-city suburb of Brisbane, Queensland's
capital).
Our Wedding day finally arrived - it was a beautiful clear sunny
day but was also very hot and humid, everyone was sweating (thank
goodness for air conditioning. We were both nervous and hot but
so excited and happy.
Our ceremony was held at The Broadway Chapel with a celebrant.
Upon my entrance the song 'Up Where we belong' by Joe Cocker was
playing. I walked into the chapel holding onto my dad's arm whilst
he was holding onto our son. Ty's face light up. We wrote our own
vows and organised the words for the ceremony. Upon signing our
marriage certificates we played 'Another One Bites the Dust' by
Queen. It was so romantic, relaxed and just wonderful.
Highs was writing my vows and organising the wording for the ceremony.
Lows was to organise all of the food we needed and to make sure
that we wouldn't run out (We self catered)
We had a casual reception under a marquee at our home, it was so
relaxed and everyone had a fantastic time. Catering ourselves was
a challenge, trying to make sure we didn't run out of food. I think
if we had our time again, we would have caterers instead.
For our honeymoon we spent 3 nights in a little cottage overlooking
the Byron Bay Hinterland (it rained, so we got to use the wood fireplace),
then we spent a week honeymooning in Townsville. It was the best
and most relaxing time just spending it with each other and our
son Riley.
Overall a fantastic and very memorable day but given it went by
so quickly there are many little things that I missed and don't
remember. If only the day could have lasted a little longer. |
