The Romance
Luke and I met over 6 years ago at a local bar. I introduced myself and told him I was a ballet teacher, he then told me that he was a krump dancer and I was pretty impressed with this information until we took to the dance floor and I realised that he was pulling my leg - I loved his sense of humour and we hit it off from that night!
The ProposalOne Friday night after I had come home from work I opened the door of our house and heard my music playing David Gray "This Years Love" and there were candles everywhere (I'm surprised that house didn't go up in flames). I walked into the lounge and in the middle of the room was a big bunch of flowers, a fish bowl of kinder surprise capsules and Luke. OMG, he was going to propose!! Luke told me I had to go through all the capsules to find the ring. I started opening them slowly but impatiently while Luke watched me with a twinkle in his eye. I got to about the 20th capsule and still nothing when Luke knelt down on one knee and pulled the most beautiful ring from his pocket and proposed! It was a really an amazing moment, and ofcourse I said yes!! He organised dinner at a local intimate restaurant and when we got there his parents had organised a bottle of champagne to be sent to our table. It was such a euphoric moment, I couldn't believe it was happening.
The PlanningWe had 18 months to organise our wedding which was quite a long time. I am an extremely organised person so could have organised it in two months if we didn't have to wait for wedding suppliers to be free.
My dress was amazing, I couldn't believe how easy it had been to find my dress. I found it in the first shop I had walked into in Melbourne and I loved almost every dress I tried on, only problem was, in the last week I lost quite a few kilos and the dress was a bit big on me. (I wish I knew how I did that now!)
The Wedding DayI started off the day with one last PT session. My maid of honour Nadine had suggested it to me as a way to calm my nerves.... and that it did. I was a very cool, calm and collected bride. After the PT session I went home had breakfast, went and picked up my flowers from the florist while others were getting ready and then I got ready myself. . I may have cut time a little bit fine because I felt like the last hour was a bit of a rush. We then got in our cars and drove 30 minutes to the ceremony location. That was the longest 30 minutes of my life. I was so nervous about walking down the garden path in my shoes!
The CeremonyThe ceremony was what dreams are made of - magical and full of love. After a dull morning, the clouds cleared and the sun came out and shined over us for the ceremony. I walked down the aisle to Ingrid Miichaelson "Can't Help Falling In Love", when I got to the end of the aisle Luke was very emotional and I was trying to hold myself together. It was a beautiful service, we exchanged vows and the ceremony was over before we knew it. Our celebrant Jilly did such a fantastic job, it was funny, romantic and sentimental.
The ReceptionOur wedding reception was a big party - it's exactly what Luke and I wanted for our guests! We got our speeches out of the way early in the night before main course, then we took to the dance floor. The band "The Baker Boys" were amazing! They were so entertaining - there was one point I looked around and not one person was sitting at their table - they really know how to entertain! We also had a photo booth and lolly buffet. We had a fabulous bridal party! I had my sister Melanie and my best friend Nadine as my bridesmaids, they were very supportive and always made me laugh. Luke had his wonderful friends Steve, Tony and Matt as his grooms men. Everyone got along so well and we just laughed the whole day. At 11.00pm I got dressed into a more comfortable dress and we moved downstairs into another room to party on.
If I had my time I would organise a videographer for the reception, to capture every moment, I wish I could relive it over and over again. We enjoyed every minute of the day, spending time with all the people that matter to us and were so happy to share it with them.
The HoneymoonWe went to Bali for our honeymoon. We left two days after the wedding and it was just what we needed after some hectic weeks - time alone.
