The Romance

Matthew was 18 and I was 17 when we first met. Over the years we would see each other at events and conversation would always flow so easily. It wasn't until I was 23 when I realised he was my missing piece. When Matthew and I began speaking I knew he was the one for me. We understand each other, have the same goals and everything is just so easy.

The Proposal

The propsal was a 6 month well thought out plan and really shocked me. We were away for the weekend in Dayelsford with a group of friends and after having a beautiful relaxing massage we returned to our house and as I opened the door to our room I saw 'Will You Marry Me?' spelt out in rose petals on the bed with Matthew on one knee with my mothers original engagement ring which he had restored to ask me to spend forever with him.

The Planning

I am a super organised person so I began preparations early! We decided to choose a date two years after the proposal to be able to have enough time to organise everything properly. Our families are super supportive and also our amazing bridal party that we chose were there as soon as we needed them especially my bridesmaids. Thankfully no clash of the clans :)

The Wedding Day

Getting married in the last month of Winter especially in Melbourne can be a gamble. Luckily, we had a beautiful day with the sun shining down on us. Matthew and I both prepared for our day at our family homes where we grew up. We wanted to keep things traditional and meet at the alter. I was super anxious and so nervous but as soon as the ceremony was over I was super relaxed and excited to enjoy the day. Matt also felt the exact same! It was so special to have all our beautiful family and friends around us for that special moment.

The Ceremony

We were married at St. Mary Star Of The Sea Catholic Church in West Melbourne. It was an emotional but happy ceremony. Music was played on the organ with soft flowing songs.

The Reception

We had our wedding reception at The Park, Albert Park. We had the best night ever! it was everything we envisioned and more. Keeping to the timeless theme we went for classic colours; white, gold and black. The music was so good and everyone was dancing all night! it was just over too quickly!

The Honeymoon

We were lucky enough to be able to go to Europe for our honeymoon. We began in London followed by, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona & Italy. It was one of the best holidays I had ever been on and we got to make so many beautiful memories together and also get to catch up with our family in Italy.

Wedding Advice ...

I don't think there is anything that I would change. It was a special day and not everything goes to plan but it was significant to us. Use wedding suppliers that you can build a connection with. Give yourself enough time to plan and do your research. Don't just settle for the first supplier you come across. It's very important to have options!
