Aaron and I began our relationship in May 2000. We had mutual friends so we had been 'acquaintances' for a year or two before this time. We ran into each other one night, and we talked, laughed and danced until the wee hours of the morning.
The next day I was going rollerblading with friends, and Aaron came along also. We laughed the whole time, and I could already see that he was going to be very special to me. We got on so well, it was amazing!
There was a slight speed bump in our initial relationship as I had already booked an extended overseas holiday to the UK and Europe. I ended up leaving for my holiday, but rang Aaron every few days to see how he was and to let him know that I was thinking of him.
After 3 months of travelling across Europe, I was supposed to then head to London to do a working holiday stint, though decided that I didn't want to stay away from Aaron, my family and friends. So I headed home.
When I got back to Brisbane, Aaron had been given a work promotion, which also included a transfer to Newcastle. Aaron asked me to join him, which I agreed to without even a second thought. Newcastle is definitely no London, but I was with Aaron so that was the main thing!!
We stayed in Newcastle for nearly 2 years. We eventually moved back to Brisbane, and Aaron proposed shortly after our return in September 2002. We were home again with our family and friends, and now I had Aaron as my fiance, I couldn't have been any happier.
We started planning our wedding day straight away, as we wanted our wedding in September the following year, which is the busiest month for weddings in Brisbane. It was so exciting choosing the venue, the church and all the other arrangements. Oh, and the dress, I loved trying on all the beautiful dresses. It's the one time in your life that you can't help but feel like a princess.
I had a lot of help arranging the smaller details for the big day, like invitations and ceremony booklets, which was greatly appreciated as there was so much to do. All the arrangements came together beautifully, and I there was not one hiccup, either before or during the wedding.
We had a Catholic ceremony at the Sacred Heart Church at Rosalie. It is truly a beautiful church with lots of stained glassed windows, high ceilings, it was just so picture perfect! Our reception followed at the Botanical Gardens at Mt Cootha. The day was so romantic, yet fun and exciting at the same time.
We had friends from overseas and interstate, which made our wedding even more special. I couldn't have asked for a more spectacular wedding day. We only wish the day didn't go by so quickly. We would give the world to do it all again, but we have our memories to look back on and cherish always.
We had our honeymoon at Port Douglas in North Queensland. Our week consisted of relaxing by the pool and the beach, snorkelling, sight seeing, and lots of cocktails by the pool! It was a shame that our honeymoon too had to come to an end. We had so much fun!
Looking back on our wedding day and the many months of organising leading up to it, it was just perfect and we enjoyed every second of it.
