The Proposal

We met through my sister (who was one of my bridesmaids), she introduced us at a bar. Two and a half years later Kevin proposed to me with a ring he had designed. It was a random Wednesday night and we decided to go to the Marina for dinner. He tied a beautiful note to our puppy’s neck – “Will you marry me?” Of course, I said yes!

The Planning

We got married in Airlie Beach as this is where I spent my late teenage years and with such a sought after wedding location just up the road - who could resist!
The plans started around a venue and then it all developed from there. We decided we wanted something really special. My parents house nestled in the rainforest was the perfect location - only catch - it wasn’t built yet. So not only were we planning a wedding, both studying and both working full time, we also took on the responsibility of helping to get my parents’ house built before we said “I do“. So stressful!
We got there in the end, despite the long hard days working and the tight schedule we led (I was nailing down the deck three weekends out from the wedding).

The Wedding Day

Our wedding was our dream day. We wanted to create a rainforest-fairy-tale-wonderland and we did, it was perfect! We strung a kilometre of fairy lights overhead and everything from the stationery to the dress was on theme. It took a lot of work and effort to get it to come together. It turned out to be the most magical day. The weather was gorgeous - a truly typical 'Whitsunday winter' day. Everything came together beautifully in the end, despite the nerves of putting all the different elements together with no indication as to whether they would suit. The day was perfect! I had a blog the whole way through with all of my different ideas/plans/to do's and photographs of the end product – www.mrandmrscoats.wordpress.com

The Ceremony & Reception

Our Ceremony was at St Martin's Church Cannonvale, followed by our reception at my parents house - beautifully nestled in the rainforest. We strung over 1000m of fairy lights overhead. We wouldn't do anything differently - it was perfect! We honeymooned at the Havannah, Vanuatu, it was wonderful!
