The Romance

After meeting at a friend’s house and striking up a great friendship for a couple of years, romance eventually blossomed between us in 2008. In January 2016 Matt surprised me with a trip to Bali, all of my family were already in Bali for a holiday at the time and I was upset that I wasn't there with them. Two days before we were flying out Matt told me to pack my bags as we were going to Bali to surprise the rest of the family.

The Proposal

We then arrived at our villa in Seminyak where there was a trail of rose petals and a bed covered in rose petals which spelt out "WILL YOU MARRY ME?". I turned around to see Matt down on one knee holding a beautiful ring. It was the most special moment and an absolute surprise. Ofcourse, I said YES!

The Planning

We had about two years to plan our wedding. We weren't in a huge rush and knew that we wanted it to be perfect without it being rushed. At times it got a little overwhelming but it was all worth it. We had a lot of fun planning it and made sure we didn't look at it as a chore. As our wedding was down south in WA, we had a few little getaways to plan everything and meet with our vendors which we thoroughly enjoyed.

The Wedding Day

It was quite an overcast day while we were all getting ready and as soon as it was time to step out the door to get into the cars, the sun was shining. It was a little windy and cold in the afternoon especially while we had our photos taken however it made for perfect photos. We didn't stay together the night before the wedding and didn't see each other the morning of. We both got ready at the Regency Beach Club in Dunsborough where all of our family and friends were staying, we had separate houses to get ready in, I was with my bridal party and my parents and Matt were with his groomsmen & his Mum.

The Ceremony

I was surprisingly very calm the night before and the morning of the wedding, everyone was shocked at just how relaxed I was. I did start to get a little nervous in the limo on the way to the ceremony and Matt said he was the same. Our ceremony was held in the gardens overlooking the lake at Aravina Estate in Yallingup. We had music playing and had flower petal cones attached to each row of seating. We also had white rose petals along the aisle where my bridesmaids and I walked down. Everyone was in such a great mood, it was such a beautiful afternoon spent with all our family and friends.

The Reception

Our reception was also held at Aravina Estate in Yallingup in the wedding room. The room was lit with chandeliers, we had tall flower towers in the centre of each of the guest tables with beautiful flower arrangements. Our flowers were blush, light pinks, whites with bits of greenery.

The Honeymoon

We flew to Singapore for 3 nights and stayed the the W Sentosa then flew to the Maldives and stayed for seven nights at the Club Med Finolhu. It was the most romantic and relaxing holiday we've ever been on. We were treated like royalty in the Maldives, it was so amazing.

Wedding Advice ...

Enjoy it while it lasts. The day and night goes so quickly and once it's over that's it. I highly recommend getting a videographer so that you can look back and relive your day over and over again.
