We met in February 1993..........
My girlfriends and I decided to go on holidays. We just landed in Sydney and were boarding a bus to take us to the Fairstar Fun Ship. As we were waiting for the bus to depart, their were three young men boarding, I looked back at my girlfriend and thought here are a couple of nice looking guys (for my girlfriend ofcourse!). We bumped into them a few times and Michael tried to pick me up on a couple of occasions but had no success.
We ran into each other a few times after the Cruise and eventually I gave in and we have been together ever since.
One evening, we were going out for dinner with one of Michael's clients (Friday 8th March 2002) when Michael called on his way to pick me up to say that the client's plane was delayed, so we would have dinner and catch up with him later for drinks. We finished our meal and Michael had organised a lovely romantic gondola ride along the Torrens. This is where he proposed and presented me with a beautiful solitaire diamond ring. "It wasn't Venice but it did the job", of course I said YES!
We found it hard to set a Wedding date as we wanted a short engagement and most places were booked out. In the end we had nine months to prepare.
Our Wedding Day was beautiful. It rained a little in the morning but cleared up to a fine day. Michael arranged the limousine to pick me up early because he didn't want me to be late. However, as it is a bride's prerogative, I did end up being 10 minutes late.
Michael wanted to get married in his family church, The Cathedral of Gabriel & Michael (Greek Orthodox) so we had a traditional Greek Orthodox Ceremony. It was quite different for my family. If you have seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding that was me only the other way around.
Towards the end of the ceremony my bridesmaid passed out, she felt really bad "Bless her Heart". I just couldn't wait to see it on video.
Our reception, for our 250 guests, was held at Donatos Reception Centre, everything ran smoothly, they had it all under control. Our Bridal Waltz was just like a fairytale with smoke floating over the dance floor and we danced to "Trisha Yearwood", "How do I Live". Throughout the evening we had some traditional Greek dancing. Michael's speech was beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.
The hardest thing I found in organising our wedding was my Wedding Dress. I wanted something a little different and felt I had tried on every dress in Adelaide and still no luck. In the end I had my dress made by Marie B Designs. She was wonderful as her husband only had a short time to live, she was still able to make my dress on time. I wish her all the best.
Two weeks after our wedding we went on our Honeymoon to the Gold Coast for 5 nights and then up to Noosa for 4 nights, it was a well-deserved holiday. Weddings can take a lot out of you but it is in all good fun.
I would like to give a Big Thank you to my Matron of Honour Eva who supported me throughout the planning of my Wedding she was a great help.
