We met back in 2006 when Damian came into buy some parts from me when I was working at Repco. He was a mechanic at Toyota and he left his phone number asking me to ring him back, but I never did! … fast forward a few months later he called my new job and we got to talking everyday on the phone for hours on end and we both knew there was strong connection there. When we finally did meet again we were inseparable from that day onwards. About 3 days after we got together Damian told me he loved me then a few weeks after being together Damian told me I was the love of his life and he couldn't wait to spend the rest of his life with his one and only soul mate. We both just knew we were meant for each other. It feels like we loved each other before we knew each other.
Unfortunately our relationship didn't come easy, our beautiful daughter was diagnosed in utero with a terminal heart condition and we were encouraged to terminate due to her being incompatible with life. We chose not to, which meant putting a lot of things on hold. It wasn't until a few years later he surprised me the night before our little heart warrior daughter's 1st birthday by getting down on one knee to propose. Of course I said yes!
We had to hold off for quite some time with our wedding plans as we didn't know what the expectancy of our daughter's plans were going to be with her heart and future surgeries. In 2015 our Isabella went in for her 3rd open heart surgery at 3years old and we almost lost her fight. However, she pulled through and then we realised there was no right time to get married and we wanted her to be part of our special day as well. We decided on a simple wedding ceremony down at the beach at sunset with a buffet roast back at home for our reception. I organised everything on my own within six months and we also did our own food catering and a huge thanks to Design Your Day for helping with last minute decorating at home as well.
The Wedding Day
We were together right up to 2 hours before the ceremony as we were trying to organise everything at home for the reception. We were both extremely nervous but I think the five kids were more excited and nervous than we were.
We decided to go to Phuket for our honeymoon and had a wonderful relaxing time but it was hard being away from our 5 kids for so long. So it was lovely to come home to them.
