The Romance

We met eight years ago out on the Hawksberry river and it was an instant attraction. We started a friendship, which then became offical shortly after. We have so many common interests and our love and support for each other continued to grow.

The Proposal

Nathan and I were on holidays at Daydream Island and one night after dinner we went for a walk. We went to go look at the chapel, which isn't uncommon as we always did this on holidays. As I walked in I remembered how beautiful the chapel was and as I continued to walk through I saw something outside. I walked outside and noticed that on the deck there was "Will you marry me" in coral and candles everywhere. It was such a breath taking view looking over the water. Nathan then dropped to one knee and asked me if I would marry him! I obviously said yes! We knew from early on that we were the one for each other it was just when it would be official.

The Planning

Planning for me was a little bit different. We were originally going to marry where we got engaged at Daydream Island. However, due to Cyclone Debbie our venue was cancelled and we had to find alternate arrangements. It didn't stop us, however, from wanting a destination wedding in the Whitsundays. So we then found the amazing Villa Botanica. Much of the planning was in the land of ‘the unknown’ - never seeing the venue or tasting the food and everything done over the phone or email. I planned the entire day in 3 months however I liked the quick turnaround time as I was just so excited and couldn’t wait for our big day. I had a lot of support from the venue Villa Botanica and my Photographer helped keep me calm throughout the process.

The Wedding Day

But it was better than what I ever could of imagined. It was a beautiful sunny 26-degree day in the beautiful Whitsundays. Nathan got ready at his hotel and I got ready at the venue. We didn't see each other before the ceremony, which made our moment so special. We both felt extremely nervous and emotional and at the same time excited to see each other and commit to each other at all times. We had a small wedding of 60 guests with family and close friends.

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was held at Villa Botanica. It was officiated under a beautiful gazebo draped with white linen and a chandelier centrepiece. There was a lot of love in the atmosphere and such a beautiful ceremony and I walked down the aisle to a thousand years by Christina Perri.

The Reception

Our reception was all at the same venue as the ceremony. The space itself was stunning; it had marble floors and fairy lights on the ceiling. Stunning sculptures and details on the walls and plenty of different areas for everyone to go so you had a sea deck over the water and then space to dance and a room for the cake and a room to eat. I felt like a queen and it was like a castle. In short - it was stunning.

The Honeymoon

We didn’t have a honeymoon straight away. We are planning to go on our honeymoon in August and hopefully heading to Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Wedding Advice ...

ensure that the day is something that is true to you and represents you. Make sure you take time to yourself and take in the day to take it all in and the rest should take care of itself. Make sure you don't stress I was so relaxed on my day and it made the day enjoyable for everyone. , I had both of my mum and dad walk me down the aisle. We did a memorable first dance dirty dancing! We entered the reception with funny songs for our bridal party and us. I loved my Maggie Sottero Wedding Gown and my Christian Louboutin shoes.
