The Romance
Ahren and I first met while working together in the hospitality industry, neither of us were very taken by one another to start with. We worked together for about three months and during this time we began a friendship and grew closer. We started spending more and more time with one another and eventually a friendship grew into more after our first kiss. We moved in together after a month and the rest is history.
The Proposal
On 6th October 2013, the weekend started with a day drive down to Richmond. We went out for a breakfast to a small café. After breakfast Ahren said that he had organised a surprise for me, so we got back into the car and drove to Zoodoo Wildlife Park in Richmond, where Ahren had organised a lion cub encounter. We spent a few hours playing with the baby lion cubs, which was an amazing experience within itself.
Afterwards we headed back down to Richmond where Ahren had organised a cheese platter from one of my favorite places, “The Wicked Cheese Company”, we enjoyed this platter together down by the river side where Ahren also asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! Of course I said yes!!
Afterwards he had arranged for us to visit my family to share our special news and also organised dinner at our favorite place Solo pasta and pizza where we shared our first date also.
The Planning
My Wedding day was something that I had been dreaming of since I was little girl. I actually found the planning the easiest part, I had an amazing bridal party and my mum helped me so much!! I think once we locked in the venue it took us a month to plan everything and then we sat and waited until the big day arrived!
The Wedding Day
Our wedding was held at Glen Albyn estate, which has a picture perfect backdrop of the Taroona Shot Tower and also the River Derwent water views. The estate itself is beautiful, we had gyp and greenery hanging from the ceilings and the tables were full of candles, greenery and floral arrangements we also had an element of gold throughout our set up. Our theme for our wedding was shabby chic with a romantic feel. We hired Confetti weddings to help us set up for our big day and it turned out more beautiful then I could have ever imagined.
The Ceremony
Our ceremony was also held at Glen Albyn estate. We had a violinist and the most perfect weather! We had 83 guests our closest family and friends to share our special day; we were married out on the deck under the tree in front of all our family and friends, and the most amazing water views!!
The Reception
We chose to have a live band and photo booth which was such a cool experience and great way to see everyone come together and the room was full of laughs and smiles. The reception had such a relaxed and fun feel to it, we chose not to have a super formal reception, for two reasons its not really us and we wanted to enjoy the night with our guests.
The Honeymoon
We’re currently in the middle of nutting out our honeymoon were heading to Europe for a month of travelling and just enjoying being together.
Wedding Advice ...
Re search your wedding suppliers, they really do make all the difference. I was so blessed to have such fantastic suppliers. A live band makes a huge differnece to the atmosphere of a wedding and a photo booth adds a lot of fun and smiles. Most importantly, relax and enjoy the day, its about the two of you.
